Research

Dr. John Hosterman, Paradigm’s Chief of Accessibility Services, is currently engaged in a large study on the use of extended time on high-stakes tests. This project is in collaboration with our colleagues at Northwestern University in Evanston, IL. Briefly: We have long suspected that candidates who are approved for extra time are not actually using all of that time when they sit for their exams. This study is investigating the relationship between the amount of extra time that candidates with disabilities request, vs. how much extra time they are approved for, vs. how much time they actually use on the test. The research is also investigating the relationship (if any) between time used vs. score received.

If your organization would like to participate in this study—or if you would like to propose another topic for research—we would be pleased to discuss it with you. Just let us know how we can help.
